I've been trying to set up a new AWS account for the past two weeks, but I'm stuck at the phone number verification step. Every time I attempt to verify my number, I get an error message saying, "Sorry, there was an error processing your request. Please try again, and if the error persists, contact support." I've opened five support tickets already, but all I've received are automated replies that don't help at all. The support form only allows me to contact them via email, so I feel like this issue will never get resolved since no one is responding.
I also thought about upgrading my plan to access phone or chat support, but I can't do that because I can't get past the verification step. To make matters worse, I can't even delete the account and start again. It's so frustrating! By the way, my phone number is fine; I've tried using three different numbers without success.

Have you checked which country you're signing up from? I’ve had some weird issues before, and clearing cookies for AWS might help. Sometimes cookies get corrupted, especially if you're switching between different accounts or roles.
Sorry to hear about your experience! If this keeps happening, there’s a re:Post article that might help you troubleshoot: https://go.aws/4obTDII. Hopefully, it leads you to a solution!
Are you using a prepaid card with little to no balance? AWS might not be processing your account setup if they don't see that you can cover any potential costs.
It sounds really frustrating! I just created an account not long ago, and everything went fine for me. Maybe the problem is related to your SIM carrier? Sometimes they can cause issues during the verification process.
I tried it with different SIM cards and still no luck.

I thought about that too, but I tried on incognito mode, and it didn't work.
