How can I activate Microsoft Office 2013 under Wine on Arch Linux?

I'm running Arch Linux and installed Microsoft Office 2013 with Wine because PlayOnLinux failed with errors. Office keeps showing an activation prompt, and I'm not sure whether activation works properly under Wine. I'd like to use the suite if possible, but I'm also open to reliable alternatives if Office is too unstable.

Before spending more time troubleshooting Wine, itโs worth figuring out whether you specifically need Microsoft Office. For ordinary documents and presentations, a native Linux office suite will usually be more stable and less frustrating. If your work depends on features that only Microsoft Office provides, using a Windows installation or virtual machine is likely more dependable than trying to force Office 2013 through Wine.

The supported way to activate Office is to purchase a valid license and enter its product key, but Office 2013 is known to be unreliable under Wine. Even with legitimate activation, you may run into blank windows, crashes, or missing features. A Windows virtual machine may work better if you absolutely need the Microsoft applications, though it requires more system resources.

If you mainly need to open and edit DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX files, LibreOffice or OnlyOffice are much easier options on Linux and donโt require activation. Compatibility is generally good, although complex formatting, macros, or highly specialized spreadsheets may still behave differently from Microsoft Office.

MellowPine42: I tried getting it running, but now the window is just white. Itโs starting to seem like it isnโt worth the trouble.
