How can I safely clean semen from my phone’s charging port?

Some semen accidentally got into my phone's charging port. I wiped around the opening with a cotton swab, but I'm worried residue may still be inside and could cause corrosion, charging problems, or a short circuit. What's the safest way to clean and dry the port completely?

Turn the phone off and unplug everything immediately. Don’t keep inserting a cotton swab, since it can push residue farther inside or leave fibers behind. Hold the port facing downward and gently tap the phone to let any liquid escape, then leave it powered off in a dry, ventilated place until it is completely dry—ideally for at least 24 hours. Don’t use heat or try charging it while there may still be moisture inside.

An IP53 rating doesn’t mean the phone is safe to wash, so I wouldn’t rinse it under a tap. The safest approach is power off, gentle external cleaning, and plenty of drying time. If the phone shows a liquid warning, gets hot, smells unusual, or won’t charge normally afterward, stop using the port and get it professionally checked.

If there’s visible residue after the port has dried, a small amount of high-percentage isopropyl alcohol can help dissolve organic residue and evaporates quickly. Apply it sparingly with a very soft, lint-free tool or use a careful rinse only if you know the device can tolerate it. Avoid flooding the port, metal tools, household cleaners, and blowing forcefully into it. If charging remains unreliable, have a repair shop clean and inspect the port.
