How Does iMessage Work on My iPad Without a SIM Card?

Hey everyone! I'm really new to using my iPad, and I mostly just use it for drawing. I don't have a SIM card in it and I'm only on Wi-Fi. But recently, I sent a text from my Samsung phone to someone, and then their reply showed up in the iMessages app on my iPad—completely missing from my phone. How did that happen? Is iMessage linked to my phone number or email? And how do I turn it off? I can't find any settings for it in the app, so I could really use some guidance!

To check if iMessage is on your iPad, go to Settings > Messages > iMessage. Make sure it’s selected. That’s where you can turn it on or off if needed!

Thanks for that! I’ll check it out. Just to clarify, I don’t see 'Messages' in my settings, does that matter?
