I recently inherited an iMac from a family member who passed away, and I'm struggling to get into the system. I don't have the password and am currently stuck in the recovery assistant. The iMac is likely a 2022-2024 model and came with a power cable, Magic Mouse, and keyboard. I managed to connect the keyboard and mouse, but while the keyboard is functioning, the Magic Mouse is not working. I've accessed the recovery assistant, and it's asking me to join a WiFi network, but I'm unable to do anything with the mouse. I've tried a few shortcuts and even attempted to reset the PVRAM out of desperation, but it seems like the keyboard won't respond until after the boot process. I really want to avoid a visit to the Genius Bar. Any advice?

One option is to connect a wired mouse through a Thunderbolt hub; there should be at least one USB-A port available. This way, you can navigate without relying on the Magic Mouse.
Thanks for the suggestion! I was really stressed out about this.

Just ordered a wired mouse. What should I do after I get it?
