I'm a student using Zorin OS with Wayland, and I need help with my recording setup during online classes. I want to record the audio and video from Discord while I work on other applications, but I don't want to hear the class audio in my ears. My goal is to listen to other content, like YouTube or VLC videos, while still capturing the class audio for review later. The issue I'm facing is that muting Discord either through the app or system tray cuts the audio from the recording as well. I want to be able to hear only my work but still record the Discord audio. I'm currently using a GPU Screen Recorder (Flatpak) and PipeWire for audio. Is there a way to achieve this separation?

It sounds like you're in a tricky spot! Many people struggle with that kind of setup. Have you thought about using a second device to record while you’re working on your main machine? That way, you can keep working without the class audio bothering you. It's not the most elegant solution but can work! Also, ditching Discord for another platform that has better audio control might be worth considering—just a thought.

That's an interesting idea! Using another device could simplify things for sure. I just didn’t want to complicate my workflow too much, but if it gets the job done, I might give it a shot.
