How to Uninstall ESET Antivirus from My Laptop?

I recently downloaded ESET Antivirus on my laptop, which I don't really use much anymore. I usually keep it updated, but I didn't run a scan after installing it. Now, I'm trying to uninstall it, but the option is grayed out in 'installed apps'. When I hit modify, it takes me back to the ESET installer. I'm wondering why this is happening and if a factory reset would be enough to remove ESET from my laptop. I've wanted to reset my laptop for a while since I've had it since 2023 and it's cluttered with stuff already. I didn't input any personal info into ESET, like my email or anything, so I'm hoping this will be straightforward.

To answer your question, antivirus software like ESET sometimes makes uninstallation difficult as a security measure. If you use the official uninstaller, that should work perfectly. Factory resetting can also remove everything including ESET, but it’s like burning down a house to get rid of a rat! Yet, if you’ve been wanting to reset your laptop anyway, it’ll solve your problem too.

Some antivirus programs use a security feature that prevents easy uninstallation. You should try using the official ESET uninstaller tool for a proper removal. As for factory resetting your laptop, yes, that method would also remove ESET, but it’s a bit overkill if you just need to uninstall the antivirus.
