I just built my PC with a 9 9950x3D and I'm really pleased with it! However, I noticed that the price has dropped by about $100 since I bought it. I'm contemplating ordering the new, cheaper one and returning the one I just received. Has anyone tried doing this? Would Amazon be able to tell that I'm returning a different 9 9950x3D? If this isn't the right forum for this question, please let me know! Thanks!

If you're in the return window and it's unused, you likely won't have an issue. Otherwise, just contact support—they might refund you directly!
It's definitely possible! If Amazon accepts the return, you should be good to go. Personally, though, I think the hassle might not be worth it. But if you're willing to make the drive to return it, you might feel it's worth it for $100!
For $100, I think it's totally worth the effort!
Yeah, the time it takes to return is minimal, and even if you make a decent hourly wage, $100 for 10 minutes is a great deal!
Reach out to Amazon support! I got a credit back on my 5700X when its price dropped. They might just compensate you if you ask nicely!
What exactly did you tell them to get that discount?
I got a $50 gift card for a price drop a couple months after I bought my 9600X too!
I've done it before without any issues. Plus, $100 is significant! Just make sure you keep the packaging intact and return it soon after purchase.
It's risky returning a CPU like that, and I doubt it’s a good look to return used items. Just saying!
It's kind of a gray area but I see your point.
Honestly, returning a CPU for $100 seems like a lot of hassle. Are you sure it's worth it?
If I could save $100 just by returning a CPU, I’d do it as long as the setup isn’t too complicated!
I've heard they don't really check returns closely; you might be fine!
