Is Linux a Good Choice for Gaming and Daily Use?

Hi everyone! I've been a Windows user for over 15 years, and I'm starting to feel like I don't have control over my own computer anymore. I've been considering switching to Linux but I have some concerns, especially about gaming. I play games like Minecraft, Monster Hunter, FF14, and Slay the Spire 2, and I occasionally do some drawing and video editing with Davinci Resolve. I've heard from friends that switching to Linux might be a bad idea for gaming because they say you need to manually configure certain settings, like which .dll files to load. I'm really not looking to deal with a lot of troubleshooting—are there any Linux distributions that would work well for gaming and my general use? Would love your insights!

You're friends are mistaken about the .dll thing! Tools like Wine and Proton handle that for you. Most of the games you mentioned should run smoothly with Proton on Steam. Just check ProtonDB to see if your games are compatible. For a distro, I suggest either Linux Mint for a familiar feel or Bazzite if you're more into gaming, as it's designed to be user-friendly and stable.
