Hey folks, I'm coming to you in hopes of finding a solution that might be hidden somewhere. A few days ago, I accidentally deleted a Messenger chat that holds immense sentimental value to me; it was with my late mum and spanned thousands of messages over the years. I've already tried downloading my data from Facebook (the chat wasn't included), logged into Messenger on my old phone while it was in airplane mode (still nothing), and even reset my phone to an older backup but had no success. I've read that once a chat is deleted, it's typically gone for good, but I'm desperate for any advice or options. Has anyone successfully recovered something like this before? Or perhaps someone with experience at Facebook/Messenger might have some insights? Even the smallest tip could really help me. Thanks a million!

I can’t help much, but I’m really sorry to hear about this. I’m sending positive vibes your way for a successful recovery of those chats!
Honestly, it doesn't look too hopeful, but don’t give up just yet! First, double-check your archived chats; sometimes, it feels like deleting a chat, but it may just be archived instead. If you’re on Android, check your file manager under internal storage to see if anything is saved in the .com.facebook.katana > fb_temp folder—it’s a long shot, but worth a look. Also, consider reaching out to Facebook directly. Deleted data is usually not gone forever; they might be able to help since your situation is a tough one. Good luck!

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it!
