I'm on the hunt for a PDF reader that can also open DOC, DOCX, and PPTX files. I'm specifically looking for free and open-source software, ideally without any bloatware. I'm not interested in the popularity of these applications; I just want a comfortable and efficient reading experience.

VSCode can actually be used for that if you install the right extensions! It’s pretty versatile.
Another option is LibreOffice. They have a feature called Draw for PDFs and their Writer and Impress tools for Word and PowerPoint documents, respectively.
You should definitely check out LibreOffice. It's free, open-source, and it handles PDFs, DOC/DOCX, and PPTX really well without any extra baggage.
