Hey everyone! I'm curious if there are any options out there for animated wallpapers specifically for Linux Mint using the Cinnamon desktop. My boyfriend uses Linux Mint as his main OS and I thought having animated wallpapers would be a fun upgrade. I found a Cinnamon plugin that changes wallpapers based on the time of day, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I'm also uncertain if there's a version of Smart Wallpaper Reborn for Cinnamon. Any suggestions?

If animated wallpapers are a big deal for your boyfriend, he might want to consider switching to KDE Plasma instead. Linux Mint is great for its stability and user-friendly approach, but it doesn’t offer as many customization options as some other desktop environments. KDE Plasma allows for animated wallpapers and much more tweaking overall. If he’s keen on personalizing his setup, moving to a different DE could be worth it!
I get what you mean! Switching just for a wallpaper might be a bit much. But hey, if he’s enjoying Mint and it works for him, maybe the few limitations won’t be a deal-breaker. Plus, customization can be fun when you find the right tools!
