Looking for Linux Distro Recommendations for My 2013 Laptop

I have a Samsung NP365E5X from 2013, and I'm looking for a lightweight Linux distro to help it run better. Here are my hardware specs: it's got an AMD E1-1200 APU at 1.40 GHz, integrated AMD Radeon HD graphics, 4 GB of RAM, and an SSD. I know the specs aren't great, but I'm hoping to escape from Windows. I'm mainly using Word and Adobe PageMaker, and right now Windows 7 is painfully slow, to the point where I can't even connect to Wi-Fi or run basic applications without crashing. I really need something that's user-friendly, as my father is a lifelong Windows user and I'm new to Linux—I've only just dual-booted my laptop with Zorin recently. Any recommendations for a distro that will help speed things up and connect to Wi-Fi? I've been thinking about Mint with XFCE, but I'm unsure if it's user-friendly enough. Thanks!

You should definitely consider MX Linux! It’s super lightweight and works well with older hardware. Plus, it only requires about 1GB of RAM to run smoothly, so your laptop should handle it just fine. You might want to check out Puppy Linux too! It's designed for older hardware and runs really quickly. It could be a good fit for your usage, especially with basic web tasks and word processing.

If you're looking for something super user-friendly, try Linux Mint with the MATE edition. It’s lightweight and very similar to Windows, which should make the transition easier for your father. Plus, it runs great on lower-end specs!

I've had success with AntiX and Q4OS on older laptops. AntiX is solid and lightweight, while Q4OS has a nice look and feel. Since your laptop has a 64-bit processor, you have a lot of options. Both are great choices if you're looking to avoid bloatware and want a faster experience.
