Looking for Tips on Migrating from Dropbox to OneDrive and SharePoint

I'm helping a small business transition from using Dropbox Business to OneDrive for Business and SharePoint within their Microsoft 365 setup. They currently have Microsoft 365 Apps for Business but don't have OneDrive or SharePoint yet. We want to upgrade their subscription to incorporate these services while keeping Dropbox active mainly for large file transfers after we make the switch. I'm looking for advice on a few different aspects:

1. What's the best way to add OneDrive and SharePoint to their current Microsoft 365 subscription? Should we just upgrade to Microsoft 365 Business Standard or get standalone licenses?

2. Are there any recommended tools or workflows for moving files from Dropbox to OneDrive/SharePoint that can maintain the folder structure and sharing permissions?

3. If anyone has gone through a similar migration, what should we watch out for? Any specific issues we might face with Dropbox versus SharePoint? Thanks for your help!

Hiring a local managed service provider (MSP) could be a solid move. They can help streamline the whole process and ensure a smooth transition without any hiccups.

I couldn’t post my entire recommendation here due to length, but I’ll share some screenshots. If you want a detailed walkthrough, reach out to me! Meanwhile, for migrating, definitely make a backup first and maybe do a test run with small files to check permissions and links. Good luck!

Great advice, @Gastelojallday! I think testing with smaller files is the right approach. It's good to prepare for any issues that might pop up.

Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely consider this advice about testing first.
