My child accidentally made a purchase—how can I get my money back?

Hi there! I really need some help. My child made a purchase of 150 on an app and now I can't get a refund. I've tried twice, but both requests were denied, even though it was a minor who made the purchase. I don't even use the app at all! Here where I live, 150 is a significant amount of money. I'm lost and can't even request a third refund anymore. Is there any chance I can still get my money back? I woke up to the charge 6 hours later, and it's really stressing me out right now—especially with Christmas just around the corner. I'm in tears over this!

You mentioned it was an Apple device, right? Make sure you activate parental controls to prevent this from happening again! Although it sounds like the purchase might’ve gone through your own device, it's still worth looking into for the future.

Yeah, it was from my phone, which makes it worse! I really thought I had things secured.

Have you thought about requesting a chargeback through your bank? It might be a hassle, but since it's your responsibility as a parent to secure devices from kids, you might have a case here. Just keep in mind that chargebacks could lead to your account being blocked.

I totally get that it’s my fault, but the money means a lot to me right now. It's half of my rent and Christmas is coming up, so this situation really stings.

What app was it? If it's something like CapCut, you could try calling your bank again for a chargeback, but be warned—it could lead to issues with your account in the long run. It’s a tricky situation for sure!

It was CapCut, and my bank said they couldn't do anything since it's been a few days and I’ve already had two refunds canceled.
