Should I Replace My iPhone Battery or Wait to Upgrade?

I'm in a tough spot with my iPhone. Just two weeks ago, the maximum battery capacity was at 88%, but now it's dropped to 57%. I've already scheduled a trip to the Apple Store tomorrow for a battery replacement, but I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it or if I should just wait until I can afford a new phone. I've had this iPhone 13 for about three years, and while it will cost me £85 to replace the battery, I'm not sure I can trade it in because it's an older model and has some exterior damage. I recently spent £1200 on a new laptop for Christmas, so buying a new iPhone isn't in the cards right now. I really have no clue what caused the battery's rapid decline. I've always charged it properly and keep it safe. I do have an old Android phone I can use temporarily because I don't feel comfortable using this one until it's fixed. However, I need to keep my data on this iPhone until I'm ready to get a new one. What do you think? Should I just go ahead with the repair? Do you think it would last me another year or more?

I think you should just go ahead and get the battery replaced. It’ll give your phone some extra life without having to shell out for a new device right now.

Consider checking out non-Apple repair shops too; they might be cheaper and just as reliable. I’ve had good experiences with them, though I don’t have specific recommendations for the UK.

Definitely replace the battery! It should get you through at least another year. Just be sure there’s no other major damage, like a cracked screen, and you should be good.

Honestly, getting a new battery sounds like a good plan for now. In the future, you can definitely look at upgrading—refurbished phones often come with warranties and can be less expensive than brand new ones.

If you can afford £85 for the battery, it’s a solid investment for your current phone. Even with some damage, an Apple Store might still give you full trade-in value when the time comes for an upgrade.
