I have a job interview tomorrow and received a Webex meeting link. I have never used Webex before, and my only available devices are an employer-provided laptop and a tablet. The invitation says I should use a laptop or PC, but I do not currently have access to a personal computer.
The meeting link opens successfully in a browser on my work laptop, and the browser lets me grant Webex permission to use the microphone and camera. I have not joined yet because I am worried that entering early might notify the interviewer. Could company security settings still block the meeting after I join, even though the link and device permissions work? Would using the tablet be safer, or should I follow the instructions and use the laptop? I would appreciate advice on testing Webex and avoiding technical problems during the interview.

Joining early usually places you in a waiting area until the host admits you, rather than starting the interview or sending a normal participant notification. Still, you can join a few minutes early for a technical check, or use Webex's test option beforehand so you do not need to experiment in the actual interview.
The browser test is a good sign, but it cannot guarantee that company security policies will allow everything once the meeting starts. Work devices may have monitoring, restrictions, or rules against using them for outside interviews. If possible, use the tablet or another personal device rather than an employer-owned computer.
Test the tablet before the interview. Install or open Webex, check the camera and microphone, and run a practice meeting with someone if you can. A test meeting is much better than discovering an audio or video problem when the interview begins.
If the interviewer specifically requested a laptop or PC, the work laptop will probably function technically, especially since the meeting page and permissions already load. However, using company equipment for an interview with another employer could violate workplace policy or be visible to your IT department. If the tablet supports Webex reliably, it is the lower-risk choice; otherwise, ask the interviewer whether a tablet is acceptable.
Definitely test everything in advance, including the exact room where you plan to sit. Check your lighting, headset, Wi-Fi, camera angle, and whether the tablet stays charged.
