I've been having some serious issues accessing my computers from my laptop using Chrome Remote Desktop (CRD) for about a month now. My setup includes: a Windows Pro desktop PC at one location, a headless Windows Pro server at another, and I usually access everything from my ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop while traveling. The strange part is that while I can remote into my laptop and server from my desktop or my phone, I just can't connect to anything from my laptop—it keeps timing out. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, logging out and back in, and even fiddling with firewall settings, but nothing seems to work. Since I'll soon be in a situation where my PC will be in storage and I only have my phone for access, I'd love to find a solution quickly. If anyone has tips or alternative software suggestions for secure remote access, that'd be great too (but please no VNC). Thanks for your help!

You might want to check out HelpWire. It’s free and some users say it’s even better than the other options out there.
Is your laptop using any VPN software? It might be interfering with the connection. Also, are the devices you can connect to all on the same WiFi network? If you're frequently connecting remotely, check out Tailscale. It's highly recommended for keeping multiple devices connected securely and might simplify things for you.
Instead of CRD, give Rustdesk a try. It’s gaining popularity and might suit your needs better.

I tried PIA VPN and played with the settings, but it didn't help. I’ll definitely check out Tailscale, sounds promising!
