I'm having an issue where my sister, who has a relatively new iPhone, sent me a picture of a receipt from UPS, but all I received was a blurry, pastel mosaic image instead. This also happened to my wife, who has the same phone as I do. My sister has previously sent regular pictures without any problems. Could this glitch be a result of some kind of AI security feature trying to protect sensitive information?

Make sure you both have RCS enabled on your phones. In the Messages app, tap your user picture in the top right, then go to 'Messages Settings' and check 'RCS Chats.' Your sister also needs to be on iOS 18 or later, and the carrier must support RCS on Apple devices.
Could just be a one-off glitch with the camera. Ask your sister to take another picture and send it again. Sometimes the camera can go blurry for a split second when you snap a shot, which is why some people take several pics just to be safe.
Yeah, I've had that issue too with pictures from my iPhone friends. If you haven't tried it yet, maybe ask her to send it through Messenger or WhatsApp instead? Those apps usually don’t have this kind of problem. I haven't used any scanner features, just regular pics, so I don't think that would cause the issue.
