Warranty Replacement for a Pink iMac Mouse Is Only Available in White

I bought an iMac less than a year ago, and the pink mouse that came with it stopped working while it was still under warranty. The service team says they can only replace it with a white mouse because the pink version is unavailable. I'm frustrated because the computer and accessories were sold as a matching set, and I don't think I should have to accept a different colorโor replace the entire set myselfโbecause the original mouse failed.
Customer support and consumer-protection channels haven't resolved the issue, and the mouse is currently at the service center while the warranty deadline is approaching. I'm also concerned that this could create problems if I trade in the iMac later. Does the manufacturer have to provide the exact same color, or would a comparable replacement satisfy the warranty? Is taking legal action worthwhile?

Check the warranty terms to see whether they promise an identical replacement or only one of comparable quality. In most cases, the color is not considered a material loss, and a legal claim would generally be limited to actual financial damages. Filing a small-claims case would likely cost more time and money than replacing the mouse. If you accept the white one, you could also look for a pink replacement separately and sell the unopened white mouse.

If matching colors are important, a third-party compatible wireless mouse or a used original pink mouse may be the practical solution. That wonโt fix the poor customer-service experience, but it could let you keep the matching setup without taking on the cost and hassle of legal action.

Warranty and retail inventory are often handled separately. If the service center doesnโt have the original color, the manufacturer may use a standard fallback color such as white or silver. They generally arenโt required to replace the whole computer just because an accessory color is unavailable, and the mouse color should not affect the iMacโs future trade-in value. Keep records of the repair and warranty claim, then decide whether the color difference is worth pursuing.
