What PSU would be a sensible replacement for a 6800 XT?

My older power supply has started shutting the PC down abruptly after I upgraded to an RX 6800 XT. Could transient power spikes be the issue, and what replacement models or specs should I look at?

Iโ€™d look at a quality 850W unit rather than trying to squeeze more life out of a decade-old PSU. The Montech Century II 850W is one value option mentioned for this kind of build. Check that the specific model is available at a reasonable price where you live.

Donโ€™t buy by brand name alone. Most manufacturers sell both strong and mediocre models, so compare reviews of the exact unit. Options to look into include the SAMA G850, NZXT C750 Core, and ASRock Steel Legend or Phantom Gaming units. A modern ATX 3.x PSU is also a reasonable direction if you want newer transient-load specifications.

The MSI MAG A-GLS range is another one to compare. It may cost a bit more than a budget pick, but the models discussed were noted for quieter operation and a longer warranty. Before ordering, check the exact wattage, warranty, and independent testing for the particular version.
