A few weeks ago, while at a trivia night, I accidentally left my unlocked iPhone with two strangers for about 10 minutes while I went to the restroom. I'm now feeling a bit anxious about whether my data is safe. What steps should I take to secure my iPhone and my information? Should I change my Apple ID or take any other precautions?

First off, it sounds like you're really just being cautious, which is a good thing! If you don’t have any reason to distrust those strangers, you might be worrying for nothing. That said, it's never hurt to be proactive. I would definitely recommend changing your Apple ID password just in case, as well as any other critical accounts you might have accessed on your phone. Plus, consider enabling Stolen Device Protection and setting a security delay to make it tougher for anyone to mess with your settings in the future. You're probably fine, just take care to be more careful in the future!

While there's a good chance everything is fine, it's wise to take this opportunity to reinforce your security. Use a strong, unique passcode instead of something easy to guess. Also, set a unique password for your Apple ID, email, and phone provider accounts. Adding a trusted friend's number to your Apple ID can help you recover access if your phone gets lost. Keeping everything updated and backing up your data regularly through iCloud can save you a lot of hassle in the future! Just stay vigilant.

Honestly, I think you might be overthinking it. If you're not noticing anything strange after that time, you might be in the clear. But if it still bothers you, changing passwords—especially for Apple and any banking apps—is a good move. Also, consider using unique passwords for added security, and make sure to document them somewhere safe. It's peace of mind, right?
