What’s a good free, beginner-friendly Python course for a 10-year-old?

I'm looking for a low-commitment way for my 10-year-old to try Python. They have a short attention span, so an interactive, web-based course would probably work better than a long textbook or setup-heavy project. Ideally it should be free or inexpensive, since there's a good chance they may only use it for a couple of days. There are so many paid platforms and courses available that it's difficult to tell which ones are reputable. What would you recommend?

The University of Helsinki’s Python Programming MOOC is a solid free option. It’s browser-based, interactive, and starts with the basics, so there’s no need to install much before trying it. It may be more academic than specifically child-focused, but you can sample the first exercises to see whether the format holds their interest.

Invent with Python is worth checking out, especially if your child likes games. It teaches programming through small, approachable projects and has beginner-friendly material. It’s less like a guided interactive app than some platforms, but it can be a good way to make Python feel practical and fun.

Python for Everybody is another reputable beginner course. It explains concepts clearly and includes exercises, though it’s aimed at a general audience rather than young children. For a 10-year-old, I’d probably work through it together and keep the sessions short—maybe 15 or 20 minutes at a time.
