What's the Best CPU Upgrade for My Intel Core i5-7400?

I currently have an Intel Core i5-7400 in my setup, and I'm curious about the best CPU I can upgrade to. Price isn't a concern, and I'm not worried if the upgrade isn't the best decision overall. I'm just looking for the absolute best CPU I can swap in without considering any negative implications.

The i7-7700K is really your max choice for the Socket 1151 board. You won't get any better than that, and yeah, it's not the most impressive chip out there today.

For the best value, you'll want to look at the AMD 5800X3D if you're open to a motherboard change. Otherwise, you're pretty limited to the Intel options, which aren't great nowadays.
