My desktop PC is connected to an LG C2 TV over HDMI, while my keyboard and mouse are currently plugged directly into the PC. I want to share the same keyboard and mouse between my desktop and a Windows work laptop, switching between them when needed. The laptop should connect directly to the LG C2 for video, but I do not want the desktop's video signal routed through the switch. I'm considering a USB switch with connections for both computers and the keyboard and mouse. Would a device such as the UGREEN USB 3.0 switch be sufficient, or would a dedicated USB KVM be better? I'm open to recommendations at different price points.

You don’t need a full video KVM for this setup. A basic USB switch is enough for sharing the keyboard and mouse between the desktop and laptop. Connect both computers to the switch, plug the peripherals into its shared USB ports, and use the button to change which computer controls them. Run an HDMI cable directly from the laptop to the TV, and leave the desktop connected to the TV as it is. Just make sure the switch supports the USB devices you plan to use and has the correct USB cables for both computers.
That matches what I’m trying to do. I was planning to connect the laptop directly to the TV with HDMI, so I mainly need the switch for the keyboard and mouse.
