What’s the Difference Between ‘dlc’ and ‘dlp’ in yt-dlp?

I was checking out the man page for yt-dlp and saw that it mentions 'yt-dlp' is a fork of 'youtube-dlc', which is no longer active. I'm curious about what exactly the 'dlc' and 'dlp' stand for and how they relate to each other. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Here's the scoop: Initially, there was youtube-dl. Then it got forked into youtube-dlc, which eventually led to the creation of yt-dlp. So, 'dlc' is from that earlier fork, while 'dlp' comes from the newer version. It's basically a progression of these projects!

Ah, thanks for clarifying that!

I get that, but do you know if the naming has some reason behind it? Like, were there other forks in between that were abandoned?
