What’s up with my Google storage being full?

I've been using Google software for a while now, and recently it's been telling me that my storage is full. The only options it gives me are to either delete large files or buy a subscription. According to Google, most of my storage is being used by Google Photos, but when I try to clear space, it says there's nothing large to delete. I've spent hours going through and deleting photos and videos I don't need, yet my storage is still full, and now I can't send or receive emails. It feels really frustrating! Edit: I figured it out — I removed all my backups. Thanks, everyone!

You might just have a ton of regular-sized photos! Remember, you only get 15GB for everything tied to your Gmail, Google Drive, and any device backups. If you want more space and are interested in backing things up properly, consider the $24/year plan for 100GB.

Have you checked your trash? I don’t use Google Photos, but I’d definitely look there first to see if anything needs to be permanently deleted. Clearing storage usually targets files in Google Drive by default, so don’t forget that part!

Yes, I checked all the Google apps for trash, large files, and hidden ones.

There’s actually no scam here, but it sounds like you might be overlooking something important. If you've backed up a lot of photos from your phone, they can really eat up your storage fast even if none of them are huge files individually!

This was exactly it! Thank you so much for the help.

What email address did you get the notification from? It might help to verify if there's something else going on with your account.

I noticed that notice whenever I check my Google profile, regardless of the device.
