Why am I seeing shimmering and jagged edges across both monitors?

I've been dealing with noticeable jagged edges and shimmering for a while, and it happens on both my 1080p and 1440p monitors. The problem isn't limited to one game—I can also notice it in desktop applications and while browsing—so I don't think it's just a monitor or game-specific issue. I've tried changing several options in the NVIDIA Control Panel without finding a fix. My graphics card is an RTX 3060. What could be causing this, and what should I check next?

Since this appears across multiple games and outside games too, compare the monitors separately and temporarily disconnect one. Also verify that each display is running at its native resolution and intended refresh rate, with GPU scaling configured consistently. A clean graphics-driver reinstall can help rule out corrupted settings before investigating the cable, port, or GPU itself.

Some games rely on weak anti-aliasing options such as FXAA or SMAA, which can leave thin lines looking jagged or shimmering. However, if you’re seeing the same effect in desktop apps and browser content, anti-aliasing alone probably doesn’t explain everything. It would be worth checking the NVIDIA driver installation, scaling settings, resolution and refresh rate, and whether the issue changes when using only one monitor.
