My iPhone's Podcasts app never alerts me when new episodes are released, even though notifications are enabled. I read that these may be background notifications, so the app needs to remain open in the background and not be force-quit. Has anyone else experienced this, and does leaving Podcasts running fix the problem?

Are you force-quitting the Podcasts app? Background notifications may not be processed if you swipe the app away from the recent apps screen. Try leaving it running in the background instead of closing it manually.
