Why can’t I open my downloaded Snapchat pictures on Windows 11?

I'm trying to download my Snapchat memories to my Windows 11 PC, but the pictures are saving as a strange file type that I can't open. I get a warning message saying that my internet security settings are blocking some files from being opened. I'm not sure how to change the file type either. Any help would be appreciated!

I saw your error message, and I think you might need to upload the file to a site like Imgur to see it better. Once it's up there, you can share the link. It could help others assist you better with the viewable image!

Totally understand the space issue—dealing with years of memories can get messy. Maybe consider moving some older files to an external hard drive? It'll free up space on your phone and could give you a backup for your pictures.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a file type that Windows doesn't recognize. Could you let us know what the file extension is? Sometimes, Snapchat saves files in a format that requires specific software to open. If you can get the files onto your phone, you might find they're accessible there since you mentioned they open fine on your device. Just make sure you're managing space appropriately!

Have you checked the properties of the file? If it just shows up as "file" with no extension, that might be an issue on its own. You could try renaming it to something like '.jpg' or '.png' and see if that allows you to open it.
