I recently updated to iOS 26 and noticed that my photo storage jumped from around 45GB to 70GB. How is that even possible? I understand that storage might increase a bit, but a 50% rise seems extreme. What can I do to fix this issue?

It’s possible that your phone needed to re-download some of your photo library to fully re-index it after the update. What model and storage capacity do you have?
I have an iPhone 15 with 128GB. What's the best way to tackle this? Should I erase everything and restore from backup again? But honestly, I don’t want to spend 10 hours doing that again!
