Since updating to iOS 26, I noticed that Apple Maps doesn't maintain navigation when it's running in the background or when my screen is locked. It seems like my location freezes after a few seconds in the background, and when I reopen the app, it jumps from my last known location to my current one. I did manage to get it working temporarily after resetting Location & Privacy yesterday, but it stopped again today even though my settings haven't changed. Other location-based apps like Google Maps are functioning fine, so I think the issue is specific to Apple Maps not accessing location services in the background. I checked all the settings, and they all seem to be correct. I've tried various troubleshooting steps, including ensuring background refresh is on, restarting my devices, reinstalling Apple Maps, and checking permissions. Is there something I've overlooked? From my searches, it seems like I'm the only one experiencing this issue.

Yeah, I missed my stop earlier because Apple Maps didn't notify me at all. Super frustrating!
I'm having the same problem too! This really needs to be addressed by Apple because it’s driving us crazy.
Did you try toggling Allow Notifications for Maps? That helped me a bit.
Looks like we might be stuck with Google Maps until Apple figures this out. It's a shame because I prefer Apple Maps usually.
I’ve got the same issue too. It’s really annoying!

Glad to hear it's not just me! Hopefully, they'll fix it in the next update.
