Why is Apple Maps Taking Up So Much Space on My Phone?

Hey everyone! I'm really frustrated because I can't update my phone due to a lack of storage, and oddly enough, Apple Maps, which I've offloaded, is still taking up a whopping 40GB. This just seems absurd to me! Has anyone else faced this issue, and what did you do to resolve it? I'd appreciate any help! Thanks!

This seems like a common issue. I'd recommend backing up your phone, erasing everything, and setting it up as new. After that, try updating the OS. Make sure to restore your backup afterward. I know it sounds like a hassle, but it might fix the problem!

It sounds like you might have some offline maps stored. Check if you downloaded any regions for offline use; those can take up a lot of space!

You might need to reinstall Apple Maps to clear up any saved pins or location data that’s causing the bloat. Sometimes that helps!
