Chrome is showing a prompt to select a certificate when loading content from lh3.googleusercontent.com. Is this more likely a Google-side issue or something to check on my device?

If this started suddenly for multiple people, a change or temporary issue on the service side is plausible, but the reports alone donโ€™t confirm that. Check Googleโ€™s service status information and see whether the prompt stops appearing before making broad changes to devices.

A certificate prompt means the connection is asking the browser to identify itself with a certificate. If you donโ€™t recognize the choices, donโ€™t select one just to get past the prompt. On a managed device, ask your IT team to check whether those certificates are expected and whether thereโ€™s a known incident.

Donโ€™t assume itโ€™s only a work-device or management-policy problem. Reports mentioned both managed and personal devices, though that doesnโ€™t prove every device is affected. If it keeps happening, note which Google content triggers it and whether it happens in another browser or on another network. That can help narrow down where to investigate.
