Why is my iPhone 14 battery still draining quickly after a replacement?

My iPhone 14 was showing 78% battery health, so I had the battery replaced at an Apple Store yesterday. It still seems to be losing charge unusually fast. I've owned the phone for about two years. Is this normal right after a battery replacement, or could something else be causing the drain?

The phone may be re-indexing apps, photos, and other data after the service. That can temporarily increase battery use, so give it another day or two before judging the replacement. If it’s still draining quickly after about 48 hours, check Battery settings to see which apps are using the most power or contact the store again.

Thanks, I’ll give it another 24 hours and see whether things settle down.

It’s worth asking the technician what battery life to expect after the replacement and whether they ran any diagnostics. Make sure you understand what symptoms are considered normal and what would justify bringing it back for another inspection.

A replacement battery won’t always restore the exact battery life the phone had when it was brand new. Software updates, background activity, and heat can all make a noticeable difference. Prolonged hot weather in particular can cause much faster drain, so keep the phone cool and check whether the problem improves once temperatures return to normal.
