My phone has started losing battery while connected to a charger. When I turned it off and left it alone, the percentage stopped dropping, but overnight it fell from 70% to 30% despite being plugged in the entire time. It charges very slowly when I use it and has been stuck at the same percentage for around 20 minutes. How can I tell whether the problem is the cable, charging adapter, battery, or the phone itself?

Check the adapter’s power rating too. A weak or failing adapter may not provide enough power, especially while you’re using the phone. Try a reliable adapter rated around 20W or higher, along with a known-good cable, before assuming the phone is damaged.
It could be the cable, the power adapter, or the phone’s charging port or battery. Try that charger on another phone, then try your phone with a different cable and adapter. That should help identify which part is failing before you replace the phone.
A background app could also be consuming more power than the charger supplies. Check the battery-usage screen for apps running heavily in the background, and test the phone in airplane mode or powered off. If it still loses charge with a different charger while powered off, the battery or charging hardware may need service.
