Why Is Winamp Being Blocked on My Windows 11 System?

I'm trying to install Winamp on my Windows 11 computer, using the official installer. However, every time I try to run it, I get a message saying "This app has been blocked for your protection. An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information contact the administrator." The issue is, I'm the administrator and I've never blocked any programs. I even attempted to run the installer via the command line, but I keep running into the same error. It's really frustrating since I have no idea how this happened or how to fix it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like you're not alone; I ran into the same problem. I noticed that the certificate for the installer is revoked by the certificate authority. You might want to check the "Signature" tab in the properties to see that information. I think this could be a widespread issue with this version of Winamp.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. It's disappointing since it feels like this version isn't quite ready yet. Looks like I might have to wait for a fix.

Have you tried right-clicking on the installer and checking the properties? If there’s an option to unblock at the bottom right, that might help. Sometimes, Windows blocks installers for various reasons and this can be a quick fix.

Unfortunately, there isn't an unblock option for me. I went through the properties and it just isn't there.

If you're still having trouble with Winamp, consider trying WACUP instead. It mimics the Winamp interface and supports skins and plugins, plus the creator actively engages with users for support. I've been using it for years and love it. Just a heads up, the new Winamp seems to be more of an online service now, so if you stick to music you own, WACUP is definitely worth looking into!
