I'm looking to upgrade my HP laptop (model 15-dy5xxx) because it's really struggling to play games like Elden Ring, even on the lowest settings. I want to improve my setup without breaking the bank. Ideally, I'm seeking a graphics card that can deliver around 1440p and 60-120 fps for most games, and I also need help finding 24 more gigs of RAM since I currently have one 8GB stick. I plan to use my Oculus for Steam VR games, so I need a card that's compatible with that too. I'm not exactly sure how important the CPU is in this scenario, so I'd appreciate any recommendations!

Unfortunately, you can't upgrade the graphics card in most laptops, including yours. The GPU is typically soldered onto the motherboard, so the easy fix is to get a new laptop if you want better performance.
As for your RAM, if you're referring to needing 32GB in total, make sure you match the specs of your existing RAM when buying new sticks. But remember, if you want better gaming, investing in a new laptop may be more fruitful than just upgrading the RAM.
You could tweak settings for better performance or consider an external GPU setup if your laptop supports it, but it's often not worth it for older models.
Really? That’s a bummer! Is there anything I can do to boost my current gaming performance?
