Is it worth upgrading my RTX 3070 to an RX 9070 or RTX 5000 series?

I'm considering upgrading my RTX 3070 and need some advice on whether to go for the RX 9070 or a model from the RTX 5000 series, like the 5070 or 5080. Specifically, would I benefit more from the Ti option in the 5000 series or the XTX variant for the RX 9070? Just to give you a bit more context, I'm on a budget and can't afford the higher-end options like the 4090 or 5090. Plus, I don't have a 4K TV or monitor, so I'll mainly be gaming at 1440p with a focus on new AAA titles. Any guidance would really help me out!

Both the 9070 XT and the 5070 Ti are great options and will be significantly faster than what you have now. If ray tracing or DLSS are important to you, the 5070 Ti might be more beneficial.

Check out the FPS per dollar if you can. Just divide the frames per second by the price of the card. A higher value means better performance for your money!

If you're looking for the best performance at a good price, I'd say go for the 5070 Ti. It's faster and usually cheaper than the RX 9070. Just keep an eye on prices, though, because stock can be a bit limited right now!

That's true! But where are you even seeing the 5070 Ti close to MSRP? It seems like it's tough to find at a reasonable price.

I went with the 9070 XT instead of the 5070 Ti mainly because I found it for $700 compared to $850 for the 5070 Ti. They're quite similar in performance, so it depends on the prices you find!

It really depends on the types of games you play. For single-player games that use ray tracing and DLSS, the 5000 series is a solid choice. If you're after more VRAM for optimized titles, the 9070 with its 16GB might serve you better, especially if it's cheaper.
