I'm considering the GIGABYTE B850 Gaming X WIFI6E for my new build. I'm using it for 3D professional animation and game development, pairing it with my Ryzen 9 7900 (non-X), which I got a few months ago. I'm drawn to this motherboard mainly because it has PCIe 5.0 support. I'm looking to eventually buy an RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT. The price point is under $200, and I'm wondering if this is a solid choice. Also, I heard that the RX 9070XT doesn't perform as well on PCIe 4.0 compared to 5.0, and the differences with the RTX 5070 on PCIe 4.0 seem minimal according to some reviews. What do you all think?

Absolutely, that motherboard will do just fine for the Ryzen 9 7900. The 12+2+2 VRM setup has plenty of power for your CPU, which only has a TDP of 65 watts. Just to give you an idea, the B650M Aorus Elite handles even a Ryzen 9 7950X without a hitch, and this board is built on similar specs.
That’s reassuring! I did consider the 7950X but it went over my budget. Thanks for the insight!
