How Can I Upgrade My 2020 Gaming PC for Better Performance?

I've got a gaming PC set up from 2020 with the following specs: an Intel Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, an ASUSTeK TUF B360M-PLUS GAMING motherboard, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card, and two storage drives (a 931GB Seagate HDD and a 111GB Kingston SSD). I'm aiming to boost its performance for gaming and want to know what upgrades I should consider. Any suggestions?

A solid upgrade option would be a new GPU, maybe something from the 60 class like a 4060 or 3060. You might face some limitations from your CPU and PCI-E lanes, but it's definitely a step up!

Honestly, the best move might be to consider a whole new PC. Upgrading to a new CPU could be tricky; even the high-end options like the i9 9900K might bottleneck newer GPUs. It’s something to think about if you're serious about a performance boost.

As others mentioned, a full upgrade eventually would be ideal, but if you're looking for an immediate improvement, definitely go for a new GPU. You can upgrade the CPU, motherboard, and RAM later on. If there's a Microcenter nearby, you might save some dough on parts there. Looking at an AM5 setup would give you room to grow in the future too!
