I recently upgraded my laptop from 16GB to 64GB of RAM (caught a good deal!). I'm curious if there are any disadvantages to having so much RAM. I've read that maxing out RAM can stress the CPU and potentially slow things down? Is this true? Also, are there any long-term issues I should worry about with running at max capacity? I'm not super tech-savvy, so any insights would be appreciated!

In general, having a lot of RAM, like 64GB, shouldn't cause problems for your system, especially if you're using a laptop with JEDEC settings. The concerns about stress mainly come into play if you're overclocking the memory, which might make reaching higher speeds tougher due to additional load on your memory controller. As long as you're not pushing the limits, you should be good to go!
There can be some downsides, mainly related to speed and latency. Higher capacity RAM sticks can sometimes run at slower speeds and have more latency compared to lower capacity ones. If you install multiple sticks, like four, it might complicate things further because it can overload the memory controller. Just check your task manager to make sure your RAM is running as it should!
I’ll check that out! Thanks for the heads up!
That's a relief to hear! I always thought more is better with RAM.
