My NVMe Drive Disappeared After a Night on My New Build—Help!

Hey everyone! I just finished my first PC build yesterday, and while it went mostly well, I did have to pull the motherboard out for a check since it wasn't initially booting or powering the CPU fans. After redoing everything, the system worked. My setup includes a 9800x3d, 64GB of RAM, a 5070ti, a Gigabyte x870 Eagle WiFi7 motherboard, and a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe drive.

I got all the drivers installed, updated the BIOS, and even did some benchmarking. But this morning when I powered it up, it went straight to BIOS without detecting any bootable drives. I noticed a red LED near the NVMe drive and tried moving it to a different slot but got the same results, including that pesky red LED. I couldn't find any info in the motherboard manual about what that red light means.

Interestingly, I also saw that the DRAM LED flickers red for a few seconds whenever powering up, even when everything was working. When I attempted to boot from the Windows USB stick, the drive repair options came up, but the 'list disk' command only shows a single 50GB partition.

I'm wondering if this issue is due to a faulty driver or a problematic BIOS update, especially since I had quite a few driver installations that didn't get restarted. I even unplugged the PC immediately after a complete shutdown. What do you guys think I should try next? Would it be smart to take it to a repair shop?

It sounds like you’re having a bit of a rough start there! I’d try disconnecting the power completely, removing the CMOS battery for a minute, and then holding down the power button for about 60 seconds. After that, put the battery back in and reconnect the power. It might help reset any lingering issues. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks, I'll give this a shot! Is doing this like resetting the motherboard? I think I saw some short pins for that in the manual.
