I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen1 running Windows 11 Pro 22H2, and I'm trying to update to 23H2. However, my laptop isn't receiving updates from WSUS, and I just noticed that WSUS is displaying it as Windows 10 Pro instead. I attempted to delete the device from WSUS and used the command `wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow` to refresh its authorization, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me solve this issue?

If you want to dive deeper, run the command `VER` in the command line on your laptop. It might surprise you what version actually comes up. I’ve found it can show some odd results, especially with compatibility layers.
Yep, it’s part of the backward compatibility issues. It gets tricky with how they’ve labeled it.
WSUS has had some quirks, especially with earlier versions of Windows 11 showing up as Windows 10. If you're looking to get the updates, make sure you're running the latest version of Windows 11. Sometimes, an update to 23 or 24H2 might correct how it’s identified in WSUS.
I have 24H2 showing as Windows 10 Pro in WSUS too. It’s like it just doesn’t recognize Windows 11 properly.
Same here! My laptop isn't getting updates directly from Windows Update either, and I can't find any option to update like I did with Windows 10. Do I have to manually download the update?
WSUS is kind of an outdated tech at this point. There was an old issue where it misidentified Windows versions, and it seems like that’s still around. I remember it showing correct versions before, but since they made some updates, it kind of broke that. In my experience, you can still get updates despite how it labels your system—just keep troubleshooting.
Honestly, WSUS can be a bit unreliable. It mainly acts as a repository for updates, while local policies handle the configurations. If the updates aren’t coming through, it might be a settings issue or something that the local system needs to handle.
Got it, so WSUS isn’t really doing the real work? That's confusing, but helpful to know!
Actually, that’s not quite right. Remember that the server running WSUS must be newer than the Windows version you’re trying to update. If that server is older, it can really mess things up.
I ran it and got Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22631.5535]. Isn’t that Windows 10?!
