I've got a Nitro AN517-54 laptop, and I recently installed a 2TB SSD because my 500GB primary drive was getting too small. While the 500GB drive runs resource-heavy games without a hitch, I've been facing serious issues with my secondary SSD. At first, games run fine, but then I experience stuttering, freezing, and my RAM seems to peak while my GPU usage drops to almost nothing. It's frustrating because I have to restart my laptop to regain control. This has happened with games like Black Ops 6, Once Human, and Helldivers 2. I've played around with different graphics settings, but the only solution so far has been moving the games to my main drive. Here are my specs for reference:
- Laptop: Nitro AN517-54
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop
- CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H (2.70 GHz)
- RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 11
- Secondary SSD: NVME Lexar SSD NM710 2TB
Any advice on what could be wrong?

It sounds like you might be running into bandwidth limitations or a compatibility issue with your secondary SSD. It could be slower than your primary SSD, especially depending on the motherboard slot it's in. If you haven't already, check the motherboard layout to see if the secondary SSD is in a faster slot. Also, make sure you've properly updated any necessary drivers and your BIOS before tweaking anything too technical.
Another thing to consider is that sometimes the firmware on SSDs can cause performance issues. Check if there's an update available for your Lexar SSD. Additionally, running the SSD with the latest chipset drivers can often improve stability and performance when gaming. Don’t forget to monitor your temperatures too; overheating can cause throttling.
Good point! I'll check for firmware updates as well. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into the motherboard slots to see how they're set up.
