One of our users is facing a bizarre issue when using our company VPN. While connected, instead of loading the company website, he ends up on a generic "new domain" page that shouldn't even be appearing. Off the VPN, everything works fine. This situation is confusing because we're using a split tunnel, meaning regular internet traffic should still route through the local gateway without affecting anything. I've attempted common fixes like flushing DNS, resetting Winsock and IPv4, and checking the hosts file for any anomalies, but nothing seems off. His VPN profile appears standard, and interestingly, I can't replicate the issue on other devices. We're using a Sophos XGS firewall along with the Sophos Connect VPN client. I even ran a tracert on both the VPN and off, and the results show the site resolves to different IPs, but the VPN gives an incorrect one, leading me to think there's some underlying issue. Any thoughts?

It sounds like a DNS issue since the VPN is resolving to a wrong IP address. I would check which nameserver the user is using when connected to the VPN. If he's getting a different DNS resolution while on the VPN, that could definitely cause this problem.
Wait, so this is only happening to one user, right? That’s pretty unusual. Could there be something specific to his setup causing this? Maybe he has different browser settings or a problematic plugin that could be interfering with VPN use.
I've got a few troubleshooting tips for you:
1) Check if it's just his favorite browser acting up or if it's the same across all of them—could be a rogue plugin.
2) Is this issue network-specific, or does it happen no matter where he connects to the VPN?
3) Use browser developer tools to see where it thinks it's going.
4) Can you access the site via its IP address? Sometimes, a different address gives a placeholder page if the domain isn't set up properly.
This should help narrow down the issue a bit.
