Why does my PC lose signal when I turn it on before my TV?

I've been having a strange issue with my PC, which I'm running on Windows 11. After upgrading my motherboard and graphics card, I've noticed that if I turn on my PC before my TV, there's no signal at all. However, I can remote desktop into the PC and see it's booted fine. If I switch on the TV first and then boot the computer, everything works perfectly.

Sometimes, if I turn the TV off while the computer is running, then turn the TV back on, I also get no signal. It's a bit odd since the PC seems to be running smoothly otherwise, with no issues during normal use, gaming, or watching videos. This problem only started after my hardware upgrade; I didn't have it with my previous setup. I made sure all the graphics card drivers are up to date and checked the power management settings. Fast boot is off, and I've double-checked all the cables, but I haven't reseated any hardware yet. Any advice or possible solutions would be appreciated!

It sounds like your PC is connected to the TV via HDMI, right? Have you considered trying a different HDMI port on the TV? Sometimes the port can cause issues. It's worth a shot!

It might be that the graphics card has multiple outputs, and when the TV is off, Windows gets confused about which output to use. If you can remote into the PC, try going into the display settings and use the 'detect' option. This might help revive the display if it goes blank on booting up.

There’s a hotkey you can use to refresh the GPU drivers—it's Windows key + Shift + Ctrl + B. Have you tried that? If not, it might help. Also, uninstalling and reinstalling the GPU drivers could resolve any conflicts since you didn't do a clean install after the upgrade.

I appreciate the tip! I didn't know about that hotkey. Unfortunately, it didn't help, but I will try uninstalling and reinstalling the GPU drivers soon. It might fix the issue.
