How can I stop PDF attachments from opening automatically on download?

Hey everyone! I need some help with a frustrating issue. Whenever I download PDF attachments from my work email (which is Outlook), they instantly open in Adobe, and it's really slowing me down. I receive a lot of these attachments, and each time I have to close the Adobe window just to keep downloading. I've tried a few things to resolve this, but nothing has worked so far. Just to clarify, I'm using the Chrome browser, and I've already turned off the "preview attachments" setting there, but this issue only happens with PDFs; Word docs, images, and PowerPoint files don't have this problem. I've also searched through Outlook settings but couldn't find anything specific about PDF previews. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

To tackle this, you might want to check your Outlook settings. First, you can disable the Reading Pane in Outlook by going to the View tab and selecting 'Off.' That should stop any previews within your inbox. For stopping the PDF from opening automatically, you can also go into the 'File' tab, then 'Options,' and under the 'Trust Center,' you can adjust the attachment handling settings. Look for "Turn off Attachment Preview" and enable that. This should help reduce the pop-ups from Adobe when you download those PDFs.

It sounds like you're facing a specific issue with PDF files. Have you checked if there's a setting in Adobe itself? Sometimes, the PDF viewing software can have settings that will auto-launch on opening files. Also, if you right-click on a PDF link in your email, you may find "Save link as..." option to download without opening it immediately. That could be a workaround for the time being!
