I'm trying to help my friend set up some software on a new Windows 11 home PC. His wife previously used a Windows 10 PC where her Office 2016 was tied to a different Microsoft account than her new one. I'm facing challenges because I installed Office 2024, but it came with a new version of Outlook that doesn't seem to support her POP email setup. I tried reinstalling Office 2016 to get the classic Outlook working, but I'm hitting a wall with activation. I'm wondering how to activate Outlook 2016 while using Word and Excel from Office 2024 at the same time, especially since the licenses are linked to different accounts. Any suggestions? Should I just uninstall everything and go back to just Office 2016?

Office 2016 and 2024 are separate applications, which means you can't really mix and match parts of them. You might need to stick with one version for everything to work seamlessly. If you’re trying to activate Outlook 2016, make sure you’re using the right account linked to that license. Sometimes uninstalling everything and reinstalling can get rid of those weird conflicts, but it’s a hassle, I get that.
I believe Office 2024 doesn’t include the classic version of Outlook by default. It focuses on the new Outlook for Windows, which comes pre-installed with Windows 11. If you're not seeing the classic Outlook option, that could be the reason you can't install it alongside Office 2024. You might want to look into the subscription details or reach out to Microsoft support if you're unsure.
The new Outlook supports Gmail directly without needing to set it up through POP. You might want to consider using IMAP instead, which is generally more modern and manages emails better across devices. Just keep in mind that if the storage fills up, that can complicate things, especially if you’re keeping lots of emails organized in folders.
That’s true! Using IMAP helps avoid space issues on the server side, but I totally get the desire to keep your old emails locally too. Just be aware that POP can lead to some email management headaches!

I thought I read somewhere that Office 2024 should come with Outlook, too. But I guess with the new focus on integrating everything into their newer applications, things could have changed. It's definitely confusing with all these updates and versions.
