Is Buying a Second-Hand RTX 3080 Worth It?

I'm looking to upgrade my setup and have a 7800x3d processor right now. I was wondering if purchasing a second-hand RTX 3080 for around 500-550 AUD would be a good deal, considering I already have a 3060 ti. How long should I expect it to last me—maybe 2 to 3 years? Also, should I be looking for anything specific when buying used? I've also seen a 3080 ti available for about 600-650, would that be a better option?

If that's the best option in your price range, I say go for it! But if possible, try to hunt down a 3080 ti, 4070 super, or even a 4070 ti. Those would pair really well with your CPU. Just be on the lookout; finding something like a 9070 or 9070xt within your budget could be a long shot!

Consider waiting a bit for prices to settle. You might want to sell your 3060 ti and use that cash to boost your budget. Have you thought about the 5060ti 16GB? It has newer tech and could outperform the 3080 in some cases.

Definitely watch out for the condition of the card and seller reputation. Always meet in a safe place or ask for a return option if you can't test it on-site.

First off, you should check if the 3080 is the 10 GB or 12 GB version. If you’re gaming at 1080p, the 10 GB version might be fine, but if you're leaning towards 1440p gaming, the 12 GB model is better. Just keep in mind that GPU prices can be pretty rough here in Australia!

That’s a solid point! If you can find a good deal on the 12 GB version, it might be worth it for longevity.
